“Many, many people I love did not get to come. . . we didn’t dance into the night like I was hoping to, I got sunburnt arranging my flowers, I could barely stand I was so weak, and yet it was seriously the most precious few hours of my life. I just cry with happiness looking at the photos my dear friend captured of all the chaos and love.
Not only was the whole day a miracle because we got married a week after a hurricane devastated everything in our area (we didn’t even have power) but we got married after 2 lives that many times almost came to an end. And 2 lives that had suffered heartbreak since childhood. It is the most beautiful love story.
And yet it wasn’t the only love story. There is Jimmy’s (step) mother who saved his life as a boy and loved him into the man he is today, many dear friends of mine who have literally held me as I was dying of a broken heart. There was my sister and her family who took many detours to get here from NH and arrived JUST in the nick of time and dressed like fairies. There was so much orchestration and serving and JOY. And it was the hottest day ever (in October).
Marrying someone after a marriage didn’t work out is terrifying and yet I wanted the celebration of it to be with the people who have seen us through. I really can’t even put into words how scared I was, how loved I felt, and how happy I am that I married Jimmy that day in our yard.”
