George and Lillian got engaged after walking over 2,000 miles together from Maine to Georgia. They are so full of life, their love wouldn’t fit into just one wedding. So they had two wildly beautiful ones. One small and sweet, on family land in Madison County. And one big and boisterous at PaintRock Farm in Hot Springs. I was lucky enough to witness both.
I nearly didn’t make it to the second. A first. A fierce storm blew through on my way over the mountains, and in a matter of minutes the road turned river. I was so close to the venue though. I took some deep breaths, said some prayers, and managed to white knuckle it through the last stretch. The exuberance that immediately followed my safe arrival made up for it entirely. The storms came and went all day and brought with them soft blankets of mist, sun sparkle, mud, rainbows, and an overall feeling of aliveness.
