Let’s Ride! A State Fair Family session // Asheville, NC

When I asked Kate if she wanted to have her family of seven (including twin toddlers) photographed at the mountain state fair, I was partly kidding. I am sooooooo glad she took me seriously. I’ve been thinking about place: how it not only sets the visual scene, but brings out different parts of us. While I am always drawn to photograph the intimacy of families in their own homes, sometimes you’ve got to shake things up.
